The Flushing Rotary Club has recognized Benjamin Foltz, a senior at Flushing High School, as its May Student of the Month. Benjamin has distinguished himself through academic excellence, leadership, athletics, volunteerism, and school involvement throughout his high school career.
Benjamin currently carries an impressive 3.919 GPA and will graduate this spring with high honors. He is the son of Kevin and Wendy Foltz and has two siblings, Owen, a 2024 graduate of Flushing High School, and Ella, who is currently a sophomore at FHS.
During his time at Flushing High School, Benjamin has been actively involved in numerous clubs and organizations, including Rotary Interact, National Honor Society, Colt Squad, and Varsity Club. His commitment to service has extended well beyond the classroom through volunteer efforts such as SMORES, Candlewalk, the Crim Rotary Mile, Adopt-A-Highway, the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, the MLK Day of Service at the Dort Event Center, blanket making for Hurley Medical Center, bed building through Sleep in Heavenly Peace, and assisting with the community indoor garage sale.
Benjamin has also demonstrated dedication as a student-athlete. He competed in four years of varsity golf and varsity cross country while also participating in basketball through his junior year. Outside of school, he enjoys golfing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends.
In addition to his academic and extracurricular accomplishments, Benjamin has worked at ACE Hardware over the past year, balancing employment responsibilities alongside his busy schedule.
Following graduation, Benjamin plans to attend Mott Community College where he will continue his golf career as a member of the Bears golf team. While he is still exploring future career paths, he is considering pursuing studies in law or business.
When asked about his favorite memory at Flushing High School, Benjamin reflected on his freshman year cross country season, sharing that he had “the most fun with that team.” He also recognized Amy McInerney as his favorite teacher, noting her ability to make learning engaging through hands-on activities and her consistently positive classroom environment.
One item on Benjamin’s bucket list is to attend the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia — a fitting goal for someone with a passion for golf.
The Flushing Rotary Club congratulates Benjamin Foltz on this well-deserved recognition and wishes him continued success in his future endeavors.
